Message from the Principal’s Office
Liam Mara
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another exciting fortnight at Marnebek School as we approach the half way mark of the term. Our prep students celebrated a milestone, completing ‘100 days of prep’ which is a fantastic achievement. We celebrated by dressing up as 100 year old person, fairy floss and lots of fun activities throughout the day. The growth and development all 33 prep students has shown during the first six months of school has been incredible, with individual goals and milestones achieved along the way.
A huge congratulation to Teikaii (TK) Soeun from Grade 5/6 who has qualified to represent School Sport Victoria, Team Vic squad in cross country. He will compete against other students from around Australia in Adelaide on 26-29th, August. We are so proud of your achievement thus far and wish you all the best in Adelaide. The Marnebek community are able to get behind our athlete. Next Friday, 12th August we are holding a fundraiser, for a gold coin donation, students can dress in their national colours to help raise money so support the costs of the trip.
On Tuesday 4th August, we welcomed our parents through the doors for Term 3 SSG night. SSGs are such an important opportunity to collaborate between parents/carers and teachers to establish short term goals that will lead to long term achievements. I hope you found the SSG’s are useful as we did.
On Monday 25th-29th July the Year 10,11 and 12 Duke of Edinburgh students attended a five day action packed adventure at PGL Camp in the Macedon Ranges. Students and staff were dealt with some cold, wet and muddy conditions but it certainly didn’t dampen their spirits. Congratulations to all involved. The excitement continues next week as our 5/6 students head to Blackwood for their adventure and team building camp.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Liam Mara | Assistant Principal

A fantastic first 100 days of learning!
The 28th of July marked the first 100 days of Prep at Marnebek School, and to celebrate, students and teachers dressed up as a 100-year-old person.
The celebration took place in the BER where our four Prep classes have a little learning community.
Preps showed off homemade hats with the words ‘Happy 100 days' on the front.
Our prep students and families have shown extraordinary resilience and a constant dedication to their learning, particularly during this challenging time that we are under construction of the future home of Marnebek.
The whole Prep team is very proud of our students, and to show it we wanted to celebrate with music, dance and fairy floss!

Hello everyone from Learning Neighbourhood 2 and 5/6 C!
We have been very busy here at Cranbourne Primary and have had a packed timetable.
Here we have hit the ground running this term, and are reaching for Gold with many of our learning revolving around the Commonwealth Games.
Over the last few weeks some of the 5/6 cohort have been preparing to go out on our Camp. All of us are excited and only a little nervous for our camp next week.
We also got to wear our pyjamas to school this Friday as we are raising money with Cranbourne Primary.
That’s all from us in 5/6 and Learning Neighbourhood 2.

Who’s Who @Marnebek
Lorenzo Cusinu - Education Support
Hi everyone, my name is Lorenzo, and I’m from Italy. I migrated to Australia 10 years ago and I work at Marnebek school as a Teacher Assistant with the year 3/4s.
I started working at Marnebek last year in November after finishing my Certificate IV in Disability.
I love working with the kids at school, helping them in their daily learning activities and having fun with them during play time. Some days can be challenging, but I never get bored; they keep me always on the run and that’s why I cancelled my gym membership! :)
In my spare time I love to stay with my family, playing golf and go to the beach.
I enjoy going for walks with my 6 year old daughter and playing sport with her on the Nintendo Switch. My favourite food is, OF COURSE, pizza that I make every Sunday at home, so if you want the best recipe just come to me and I’ll share with you!

Smoking and vaping
Parents, carers, schools, and community all play an important role in protecting children and young people from, and educating them about, the harmful effects of smoking and vaping.
Research from the Royal Children’s Hospital shows many parents and carers are not aware of the harmful effects or how their views about smoking and vaping can impact the likelihood of a young person taking up smoking or vaping.
The Department of Education and Training has collated resources to help you learn more about the health risks of smoking and vaping, and some suggestions about how to talk to your child about vaping, and where to get support.
This includes a video from experts at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne with tips for parents for starting a conversation with teenagers about vaping.
