Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents, Carers & Guardians,

As we approach the end of the year, there is a sense of joy and excitement in the air, but also a bit of anxiety as we move toward the holiday period. While this is a time for celebration, I want to reassure you that we will continue to provide the high-quality education and consistency that we have worked so hard to deliver throughout the year. Our commitment to your child’s education remains unwavering, and we are excited to finish the year strong.

Last week, we celebrated the graduation of our students completing their Certificate II in Conservation. It was an absolute privilege to attend the ceremony and witness the pride these students felt in their achievements. They have worked hard, and it was wonderful to see their dedication come to fruition.

We also held the Year 4-6 Disco, which was a huge success! The event was very well attended, and the students had an incredible time dancing the time away. This is something we look forward to making a regular addition to our annual calendar of events.

On Friday, the leadership team attended the PASS Awards, which celebrated staff members nominated across Victoria for their exceptional contributions to special education. We were especially proud to have Eva Sinsua, one of our amazing occupational therapists shortlisted for this prestigious award. While Eva may not have taken out the overall title, she is a true superstar in our eyes, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team.

Additionally, last night I had the pleasure of attending the Prep Information session, where we welcomed the new 2025 Preps to Marnebek. While starting school can bring about some anxiety, it was clear that there was also a great deal of excitement and anticipation for the year ahead. We are eager to meet our new students and their families and look forward to supporting them as they begin their journey with us.

As we move into the final weeks of the year, we are reminded of the wonderful community we have built here at Marnebek. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students and staff and are excited for the opportunities that the new year will bring.

Kind Regards,

Chris Murray

Principal

Learning About Money - 8C

This term in 8C Numeracy, we have been learning about money. Money is a fundamental part of life, and teaching its value and how to manage it can support our students in developing healthy financial habits that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. So far this term, we have explored Australian coins, notes, spending habits, and change, as well as shopping in fun and engaging ways. Students have partnered with their peers to actively engage in tasks that will enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in money management. Great job, 8C!
