Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents, Carers & Guardians,

It has been another busy week at Marnebek School! All students have been putting their best foot forward to complete the year on a positive note as we move towards the school holidays.

Ready, Steady, Cook!

Recently, our students participated in a Ready, Steady, Cook, challenge, where they were given a selection of ingredients and tasked with preparing a meal for the judges. The event was a huge success, and the students truly impressed us with their creativity, teamwork, and culinary skills. They worked hard to plan, prep, and cook their dishes, showcasing their ability to think on their feet and manage their time effectively. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills, and they all did an amazing job, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved. Well done to all staff involved who provided this amazing experience!

Transition Day

I’m pleased to share that our transition day for students moving into their 2025 classes went exceptionally well. Students had the opportunity to attend their new classrooms, and it was wonderful to see them navigate the day with minimal disruptions. From what I observed, there was a lot of positive teacher-student interaction, which will undoubtedly set the stage for a successful and smooth year ahead. It was a great opportunity for students to become familiar with their new environments and build connections with their teachers and peers. We’re excited to see what the year brings for each of them!

Graduation

Our recent year 12 Graduation Ceremony was once again a huge success, and it was a truly memorable occasion for everyone involved. The students did an outstanding job, speaking eloquently about their experiences at Marnebek School. They were able to clearly express why Marnebek is such a special place, highlighting the strong sense of community, the support they’ve received, and the opportunities for growth and development. It was heartwarming to hear each of them reflect on the ways in which the school has helped shape them into the confident and capable young adults they are today.

As we celebrated their achievements, it was evident that the journey of growth for each student has been deeply influenced by the dedication of our staff, families, and the wider school community. Our students took the time to acknowledge the teachers, staff, and their peers who have helped them overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Their gratitude and appreciation were evident throughout the ceremony, and it was a proud moment for all of us to witness.

We are incredibly proud of the graduating class and look forward to seeing the amazing things they will accomplish in the future. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the ceremony such a success and for continuing to support our students every step of the way.

Have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you all for our final week of 2024!

Parliament Visit with

Pauline Richards Local MP

Today, the dedicated student leaders from Marnebek School, accompanied by Principal Chris Murray, School Council president Donna-Marie Hogg, and local MP Pauline Richards, had the wonderful opportunity to visit Melbourne Parliament. The day included a comprehensive guided tour, allowing students to explore the rich history of the site, as well as the chance to meet with various politicians. This special day not only celebrates the outstanding leadership that our student leaders have demonstrated throughout the academic year but also provides an excellent platform for students to further develop and refine their leadership skills for future endeavors.

ADVANCED PROGRAM TERM 4

This term, students in the Advanced Program had the incredible opportunity to go surfing at UrbnSurf. This experience not only introduced them to surfing but also deepened their understanding of water safety and beginner-level surfing techniques. Under the guidance of UrbnSurf staff, students learned essential skills such as safety, basic surf etiquette, and effective board control, ensuring the safety of themselves and others in the water. It was great to see all students improving their surfing skills and hanging loose! 🏄‍🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️
