Message from the Principal’s Office
Luke Bennett
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another busy week at Marnebek as we head towards the end of Term 1. Last Thursday we celebrated Harmony Day. Students were invited to wear the colour orange; traditionally this colour signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. We held a fun run at both campuses for students which was great and enjoyed by all.
Today (Friday) we acknowledged Purple Day. This is a global initiative which dedicated raising awareness of epilepsy. Students wore purple and teachers engaged students in fun activities which brought awareness and understanding about epilepsy.
All of our student leadership positions have now been announced. There are a range of positions for each Learning Neighbourhood. These are: Captains, Vice Captains as well as Sport, ICT, Environment, Flag and Bus Captains. We will acknowledge 2022 student leaders at an Investiture Ceremony on Friday 1st April. Well done to all students involved in this process.
Finally, on Thursday 31st March we are holding an end of term Picnic (3.30-5pm) for our whole school community. This is a great chance for our families to connect with each other and share memories of our buildings as we say good-bye to the Old and embrace the New. Feel free to bring along some nibbles and we will provide a sausage sizzle. We look forward to seeing everyone!
Have a fantastic weekend.
Kind regards,
Luke Bennett | Assistant Principal

Purple Day - Epilepsy Awareness Day
Today we celebrated Epilepsy Awareness Day at Marnebek School! Celebrated annually on March 26, Epilepsy Awareness Day, or Purple Day, was created to increase the public’s understanding of this brain disorder and to eliminate the fear and stigma surrounding it. With over 3.5 million people diagnosed with epilepsy in the U.S. and over 50 million worldwide, it is likely you know someone living with the day-to-day challenges epilepsy brings.
It was fantastic to see so many students and staff coming to school dressed in purple to raise awareness. Both campus offices were decorated with purple balloons and purple ribbons to acknowledge this important event.

School Uniform
Dear Beleza School Uniform Customers and Community,
Important Update Re: Suppliers in Isolation due to Covid-19 Virus
It has been brought to our attention that all our suppliers in China have been instructed to stay at home due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19. As many are now working from home, production of garments has been halted and our suppliers are unable to track their production line and therefore are not able to provide us with updates on which orders have been affected.
We have also been notified that due to this outbreak, most suppliers will not be able to send orders to our warehouses at this time. Please note that we are still taking new orders, but production timelines may vary due to the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 virus and may take longer than expected.
If you have currently placed an order with us, please be assured that once our suppliers can continue production, your orders will be completed and shipped to our warehouses as soon as possible.
If you have placed an order of items we have available in our warehouse or stores, these have not been affected and will continue to be processed as per normal. We will keep you updated when we have more information on the current situation. If you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Regards,
Beleza School Uniform
Japanese Encephalitis Virus
JE virus has been recently detected in humans and pigs in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. It is the first time the virus has been detected in Victoria.
Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a rare but potentially serious infection of the brain caused by a virus that can be spread to humans through mosquito bites.
Limit your exposure to mosquitoes by wearing long, loose fitting clothes outdoors.
Use ‘knockdown’ fly sprays and plug-in repellent devices indoors.
Use effective mosquito repellents containing picaridin or DEET on all exposed skin.
Sleep under mosquito nets treated with insecticides if you don’t have fly wire screens on windows on your home or are sleeping out in the open.
