Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents & Carers,

What an incredible Term 3 we’ve had at Marnebek School! This term has been packed with learning, engagement, and exciting activities inside and outside the classroom. All students have made outstanding progress towards their learning goals.

We have had a busy couple of weeks at Marnebek, last week was our acknowledgement of R U OK? Day. Students and staff came together in their classes to engage in meaningful conversations, It was a great reminder to always check in with each other and ensure that everyone feels supported.

We are thrilled to announce that Marnebek School was the lucky recipient of 20 new bikes, generously donated by Variety Australia! This incredible gift will further enhance our bike education program across both campuses, providing more opportunities for students to participate in active learning and develop their physical skills.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Footy Colours Day, a fun-filled event where students proudly wore their team colours and rotated through exciting football-themed activities with inflatable stations. The energy and enthusiasm from both students and staff made it a day to remember!

As we wrap up Term 3, I would like to extend a big thank you to all of our parents and carers for your continued support and partnership. Wishing you all a safe and relaxing holiday break.

Regards,

Luke Bennett

Campus Principal

Preps Making Fairy Bread 🍞🧚🏻

On Friday all of the Preps made fairy bread as part of our Numeracy lesson. We have been learning what halves are. To make our fairy bread we had to follow the instructions. Step one was to get a piece of bread and put it on our plate. Step two was that we had to carefully spread the butter onto the bread. Step three we had to shake the sprinkles onto our buttered bread. Step 4 was where we had to carefully with adult support cut our bread in half. And our favourite step was step five where we got to eat our fairy bread, Yummo!

Please enjoy some photo’s of us all make our fairy bread halves

On Monday Prep/ 1 students went on an excursion to Rainbow Town in Glen Waverley. We all had such an amazing time exploring all of the different play areas. We enjoyed building on the Lego wall, using the giant slides, playing in the ball pit and jumping on the trampolines.

We all did a great job at representing our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience while in the community.

Year 3’s

The year 3's have been thriving with their numeracy learning this term using interactive programs like Essential Assessment, and they have all enjoyed their turn taking and group learning such as morning circles and measurement games in small groups exploring spaces to record different lengths, using different measuring tools. Year 3's had lots of fun joining in our Indigenous Reading Week, joining in some Dreamtime stories in our new library.

News Bites 7A

Term 3 saw us plunging into numerous activities. The photos are just a glimpse of some of the learnings that we had thorough the term. We began the term with swimming lessons where we had a chance to enhance our swimming skills and learn about the importance of water safety.

Our day in the classroom starts with tabletop activities such as handwriting practice, reading stories using online apps, engaging in wordsearch, or completing unfinished tasks.

We continued to focus on Phonics in our English lessons with various levels of learning exposures based on student needs.

Numeracy focus was on Number and Algebra. We did some hands-on activities to learn the various numeracy concepts that we are learning this term.

Everyone loves yummy food! Students had the opportunity to participate in cooking program on every Wednesday. They were exposed to several culinary choices and safety around using the various kitchen equipment.

Friday interschool basketball was another highlight, which certainly helped to build student confidence, teamwork, resilience, and cooperation. This was also a great opportunity to forge friendship with students from other schools.

Some of us participated in excursions to Mauna Farm and learned how to look after the animals and birds. A few of our students participated in work experience by going to Gumbuya World, where they worked for few hours every week. Couple of other students had the opportunity to visit Chisom to explore sensory play!

It was indeed a hectic Term! Hurry its time for a well deserved break!!!
