Message from the Principal’s Office
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another fantastic week at Marnebek with lots of exciting opportunities for our students. These opportunities continue to grow as we move closer to the finish date for our building project. Some of you may have taken the opportunity to visit the Bookfair that is currently situated in our newly opened specialist building. If not, I highly encourage you to visit the Bookfair and take a walk around the new space, it is a highlight of the project.
School attendance has been a focus for the school this term with data showing that many students are being dropped off late or picked up early. Whilst we understand the challenges of navigating the current road works and that there may be other influencing factors, it is crucial to maximise students learning through full-day attendance. If students are struggling with morning routines in preparing for a school day, please feel free to contact our allied health team who can assist you with this.
It brings me great pleasure to announce the appointment of our new school captains. after a rigorous selection process that included interviews, presentations, and peer evaluations, the overall senior school captains for 2024 are Dylan Creek and Angelina Mikhael. I'm also pleased to announce that the senior vice captains are Krish Meta and Tahlia Pregara who I am confident will be great leaders of our school and set a high standard in all our school values. There will be further announcements for all other leadership roles in the coming days. On Wednesday 27th at 3:30pm, we will conduct an investiture ceremony to acknowledge all captains and present them with their badges.
Finally, I extend my gratitude to each member of our school community for your unwavering dedication, collaboration, and passion for education. It is the partnerships between home and Marnebek that we take great pride in and together we empower students to reach their full potential. Have an amazing weekend!

Welcome to Prep C
News from Prep C
Prep C have been really busy in classroom learning lots of new things. We have been learning about the ‘d’ and ‘t’ sound in English, it has been really fun to learn about new sounds through sensory play.
During Math lessons we have been building on our number knowledge and counting skills. We love playing counting games on the Interactive Whiteboard and using our big number floor puzzle.
We also enjoyed a fun Friday decorating paper plate fish for our Book Fair. !

Welcome to 4B
Class 4B have been developing their problem solving skills during our Maths session. Working with number patterns and working on puzzles provide a wonderful opportunity to extend geometry skills and develop resilience. The students feel very proud of themselves when they have solved a challenging problem.
Welcome to Class 4C
Welcome to 5B
Hi from Grade 5B,
This term we have been focusing on how we can use our school fresh produce to make yummy healthy foods. The students in Grade 5B have challenged themselves to make fresh orange juice each morning to have throughout the day and to share with the grade 5 classes. They have been having a great time doing this and love to have a fresh cup of orange juice while they complete their daily activities. Fantastic work Grade 5’s. Let’s keep it up.

News from Grade 7
News from grade 7’s Reported by Nathan Lampard
My name is Nathan Lampard and I am reporting some of our outstanding news from our grade 7’s. This year has kick started with a lot of good achievements. Since we are the oldest grade on the NHD campus we are working on being good role models for the younger students. We show this by being respectful, showing resilience and being responsible.
We come prepared to school to learn and participate in all other activities that we enjoy. We participate in DS SPORT every Wednesday where we are learning the skills to play soccer. Our PE sessions are fun as well. We go across to the Casey stadium on Fridays for our Basketball games which is always fun.
We had done a few science experiments which was good. Some of our experiments were a winner and some where we learnt what went wrong. The most exciting one was making Ice cream where we got to eat the ice cream. Yum!!! It was delicious. Some came out too buttery some were too milky but most importantly we got to have fun and enjoy ourselves …YAY!!!!!.

Welcome to Senior Sub School
Hello from the senior sub school,
Some of our students had the great opportunity to complete their food safety handling certificate last week which was a very fun and hands on approach to the students learning. They discussed topics such as cross contamination, safe food temperatures and the different PPE to use when in an environment containing food. After lots of hard work in the classroom, the students had the opportunity to get into the kitchen and display their newfound skills. Together they prepared chicken BLT sandwiches for their lunch which was deemed as a great finish to the day.
Keep up the good work year 11/12!
