Message from the Principal’s Office
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another exciting fortnight at Marnebek School with programs in full flight, as we cross the halfway mark of term one. The highlight of this week has been the ‘Book Fair’, giving students the opportunity to explore a wide selection of books and continue developing their love of reading. Students have enjoyed the colouring-in and creative writing competitions. Congratulations, and well done to all involved.
Next week is a day for the history books at Marnebek School, as the first of the brand-new buildings opening its doors for our students. Corrigans Rd campus will see the return of our LNH 4 students from Cranbourne West Secondary College and the beginning of the use of the new facilities. We are super excited to finally see the dream become a reality and students and staff being able learn in the best environment with the best facilities, as they deserve nothing but the best!
Our wonderful students have been very active, participating in many sporting activities and part of our PE and health program. Wednesday 8th March, our Year 6/7 students participated in the Cranbourne Primary School Cross Country event where students ran/walked 1.5km to complete the course, what an achievement. A special mention to Dzintra Powell and Ethan Biccierai who came in 1st place!
Year 8/9 students from LNH 3 have continued their community partnership with Chisholm TAFE. Each Monday our students attend a multisport clinic run by Chisholm Sport and Recreation students at the Berwick Campus. Furthermore, Cricket Australia have been on site at LNH 3 running ‘Blast Cricket’ sessions…our national team could use the help of our budding stars. The sessions have bene lots of fun with great connections made.
A reminder that Monday 13th is the labour Day public holiday and Tuesday the 14th is a curriculum day with no student attendance as staff attend professional development on this day. Have a great long weekend and we look forward to seeing our wonderful students on Wednesday.
Kind regards,
Liam Mara | Assistant Principal | Learning Neighbourhood 3
Construction Update
Dear school community,
I wanted to update you on an exciting milestone and key dates for our school’s upgrade project.
As we recently mentioned, building works at the Corrigans Road campus reached practical completion.
I am happy to advise our senior school students, currently at Cranbourne West Secondary College, will return to the new Corrigans Road campus on Wednesday, 15 March.
A reminder that Tuesday, 14 March, is a curriculum day for both campuses.
Construction is continuing at the New Holland Drive campus for our junior and middle school students to return at the start of Term 2. We will provide further updates towards the end of Term 1.
Bus arrangements will remain the same, and students will be taken to the new campuses. If you have any questions relating to your child and the location they will be, please contact the Assistant Principals of our Learning Neighbourhoods: Ruth Cameron (LN1), Luke Bennett (LN2), Liam Mara (LN3) and Chris Murray (LN4).
It is an exciting time for Marnebek School as we move into our new learning buildings. As you may be aware, our school received $38.843 million in the 2020-21 State Budget to deliver three new 2-storey learning neighbourhood buildings across both campuses.
There has been a lot of work behind the scenes preparing for our return. I want to thank all our staff, students and families for your ongoing support and efforts.
I would also like to thank the Cranbourne West Secondary College and Cranbourne Primary School communities for hosting us during this period.
We continue to work closely with the VSBA to ensure our community continues to be updated.
If you have any further questions about the works at Marnebek School, you can phone the VSBA on 1800 896 950, email vsba@education.vic.gov.au or visit the website: www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/marnebek-school-cranbourne
Thank you.

The local council immunisation service delivers the school-based immunisation program. The local council will provide immunisation consent forms and information to your child’s school for your child to bring home. Parents/guardians are required to complete and return the immunisation consent forms to their child’s school.
The Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019 authorises secondary schools to provide their local council with student and parent/guardian contact information for any student scheduled to receive a vaccination. This information is only used to assist local councils to follow-up parents/guardians of students with incomplete or missing immunisation consent forms.
What information is given to local council?
The school provides the following basic student and parent/guardian contact information to the local council immunisation service:
• student name
• date of birth
• gender
• year level and class group
• parent/guardian contact details
• language(s) spoken at home.
Why does the school provide this information?
• To improve communication with parents/guardians regarding their child’s vaccination needs.
• To ensure all eligible students are offered the opportunity to access free vaccinations at school.
• To reduce the administrative burden on school staff to follow-up consent forms.
• To eliminate manual data entry processes.
What do I need to do?
1. Read the information provided in your child’s consent form and complete all sections.
2. Return the immunisation consent form with all relevant fields completed to school, even if you choose not to consent for your child to be vaccinated as part of the secondary school immunisation program.
3. Your information will be provided to The City of Casey in March. If you do not wish for your details to be provided, please advise the school in writing before the last school day in February.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am thrilled to share the exciting news that Marnebek School is participating in the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge! Our school is dedicated to fostering a love of reading in our students, and we believe this challenge is a fantastic way to encourage them to read more.
The PRC application offers many exciting features, including access to a library catalogue with book images and blurbs, a modern, user-friendly interface, and rewarding students with badges as they achieve challenge milestones. Students also have the option to mark books as favourites, give them a star rating, or complete a book review.
This challenge is open to all Victorian children, and we hope to encourage our students to read or 'experience' at least 15 books with the help of their parents and teachers. It's not a competition but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by September 8th, 2023.
All children who meet the challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers, a fantastic reward for their hard work and dedication to reading.
To view the booklist and learn more about the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge, please visit https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge. I suggest checking with your child's teacher, finding reading material at home, or using digital books available through the school's Whuska resource platform. Public libraries are also an excellent source of reading material, with many print copies of books on the PRC booklists and ebooks and audiobooks available through their online platforms. If you still need to become a local library member, check out their website to see how to join.
Thank you so much for your support, and we hope you and your child will enjoy this challenge and all the fantastic benefits of reading!
Warm regards,
Yohana Ziem

News from Prep C
This week in Prep C we have been very busy. We have been doing lots of work around our classroom routine and everyone is becoming more confident each day.
In English, we have been using our Stretchy Snake reading strategy and reading lots of fun books like Green Eggs and Ham and The Gruffalo. We have also been learning about the letter T and reading our Letter getter books on Sunshine Online. We used Autumn leaves to decorate our own tree for the letter T. We all loved using shaving cream this week to write our names.
Our visit to the Book Fair was great fun and we made a wish list of the books we liked.
For Mathematics, we have continued to focus on counting and learning about 2D shapes. We use our abacus to help us with counting. We also enjoy our shape monster game where we need to feed the monsters the correct shape.
Well done to everyone in Prep C for another fabulous week!
