Marnebek's week 8 and 9 Term 1 *

Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What an amazing first term we have had! It has been a fantastic start to the year, filled with exciting learning opportunities, special events, and wonderful community spirit.

In the past fortnight, our school has been buzzing with activity. We celebrated Harmony Week, embracing the diverse cultures that make up our school community. Students participated in a Lap-a-thon, enjoyed a vibrant Bollywood dancing incursion, and showcased their heritage by wearing traditional cultural dress. It was a beautiful celebration of inclusivity and respect, highlighting the importance of understanding and appreciating the many backgrounds that shape our school.

Our school leaders recently attended camp, where they developed valuable leadership skills, built strong connections, and engaged in team-building activities. This experience allowed them to reflect on their roles as student leaders and gain confidence in leading initiatives that will positively impact our school. We are proud of their growth and look forward to seeing them put their learning into action. A big thank you to Shaun, Jesse and Emma for giving our students the opportunity to attend the camp.

We also had an exciting Interschool Basketball Carnival, where 40 students proudly represented our school. It was fantastic to see their teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination on display. Their hard work and enthusiasm were commendable, and we congratulate them on their efforts.

As we wrap up Term 1, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our parents and families for your ongoing support. Your involvement and encouragement make a significant difference in our students’ experiences and achievements.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable school holiday. We look forward to another fantastic term ahead!

Harmony week

Marnebek School joyfully celebrated Harmony Week, embracing diversity and inclusion with a range of exciting activities. Students participated in Indigenous art, a multicultural disco with global music, and engaging performances like African drumming and Bollywood dancing. The week concluded with a special dress-up day, where students wore traditional clothing or the color orange to symbolize unity and respect. Through these activities, Marnebek reinforced the importance of belonging, cultural appreciation, and coming together as a community.

Let’s have a look at the grade 2’s

In Grade 2 this term we are focusing on building up our skills to be respectful, responsible and resilient, through our SW-PBS weekly focuses. This also helps us build our learning in and outside of our classroom. We are lucky enough to be able to complete our daily learning in many different ways. Through sensory play, movement breaks, outside classroom lessons, music, art, fine and gross motor activities and learning with our peers. In Literacy we have been focused on developing our phonics knowledge and building on our writing and reading skills. While in Numeracy we have built on and improve many of our prior learning skills in counting, shapes, days and months, timetables and same and different. Its been such a great start to the year and we can’t wait for what lays ahead.

News from Corrigans Rd Campus

Let’s hear from the Year 11/12

Throughout Term 1, Marnebek School’s Year 11 and 12 students have actively participated in swimming sessions and exciting excursions. The swimming program helped them build confidence, improve water safety skills, and stay active. Alongside this, students enjoyed various excursions that provided hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to explore new environments. These activities have supported their personal growth, teamwork, and engagement in real-world learning beyond the classroom.

Year 11 and 12 students have been also being gaining valuable hands-on experience through work placements. These opportunities allow students to develop practical skills, build confidence, and explore different career pathways in supportive real-world settings. Through their work experience, they are learning responsibility, teamwork, and independence, helping to prepare them for future employment and life beyond school.
