Welcome to Learning Neighbourhood 2
It has been a pleasure to lead the staff and students at Learning Neighbourhood 2 this year. We started the year at our New Holland Drive Campus and made our move to Cranbourne Primary School at the beginning of term 2. The students settled into their new surroundings brilliantly and through the support of teachers, ES staff and Allied Health, all students have made terrific growth in their learning this year.
Some key highlights in terms of curriculum have been; learning about puberty in wellbeing lessons, literacy – focusing on writing, maths – addition, subtraction and multiplication, science experiments, cooking activities and PE excursions such as weekly basketball, cricket blast, and multi sports at Casey Stadium.
Other highlights for our students have included the 3 day Blackwood Camp as well as Gravity Zone and Funtopia excursions. We were also able to join Cranbourne Primary School for the Aladdin and Kaboom Music incursions as well as the Footy Day Parade, Coin Ladder activities and the Christmas Concert!
The year 5/6 students have been focusing heavily on School Wide Positive Behaviours and our school values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. Each week in assembly it has been a privilege for me to see how respectful the students are when listening and acknowledging recipients of awards.
I asked few students about what they enjoyed most about Learning Neighbourhood 2 this year and this was what they said………
Dzintra: “Learning about maths, especially multiplication, adding and times tables”
Heidi: “Making Pizza in cooking lessons”
Jett: “ I loved all of the excursions we went on”
Xavier: “Going to the multi sports excursion at Casey Stadium, my favourite was trying the wheelchair rugby!”
Marlee: “My highlight was seeing my friends”
Finally, I would like to thank all of the parents and carers for your support during 2022. It has been a year of change but a very successful one for all students. We are looking forward to a magnificent 2023 with our new buildings coming together and to continue supporting your children with their learning each and every day.
